Make sure your shot counts with a clean kill courtesy of your drop-em’ dead broadhead. Any one of these new broadheads will get it done.
G5 Havoc
The Havoc is a two-bladed mechanical broadhead with high-grade German-made Lutz blades and G5’s Posi-Lock blade retention system to keep blades in place until deployed. The balanced blade deployment system is designed to allow simultaneous opening upon impact. Available in both 100-grain and 125-grain models. Both deliver an impressive 2-inch cut.
Magnus Broadheads Stinger Killer Bee
Built to enhance Magnus’ most popular Stinger line of broadheads, this cut-on-contact head is made from knife-grade stainless steel blades and an aircraft-grade aluminum ferrule. It features the company’s patented diamond tip and is “crossbow-approved,” meaning it is tailored to crossbow hunters, but also extremely workable for compounds as well. The Killer Bee comes in 100-grain and 125-grain versions, as well as two-blade and four-blade models. A close, evil cousin, the Stinger Buzzcut is a Killer Bee with a chiseled blade.
Muzzy Fred Eichler Signature Series Phantom
Renowned bowhunter Fred Eichler lent his name and expertise to the design of this cut-on-contact broadhead. The original Muzzy Phantom design has been enhanced in this iteration with a lengthened, swept-back main blade with a Tonto-style tip. Available in a 150-grain, four-blade model with a 1 1/8 x 1-inch cutting diameter or a 125-grain, two-blade design with a 1 1/8-inch cut.
New Archery Products Killzone
NAP’s Killzone features dual swept-back, rear-deploying blades and a sharp cut-on-contact tip for deep penetration. The mechanical head uses NAP’s spring-clip to hold blades in place until impact rather than faulty o-rings or rubber bands. In addition to the cut-on-contact tip, Killzone designs are available with a bone-crushing Trophy Tip or in a Deep Six model for micro O.D. arrows. The 100-grain Killzone delivers a wide 2-inch cut.
QAD Exodus
The QAD Exodus features a truly innovative Blade Over Shaft Technology to create a head that delivers near field-tip flight performance. Blades are swept back on a shorter ferule and extend over the shaft to deliver a cutting diameter of 1 1/4 inches. The .035-inch stainless steel blades are available in 85-grain and 100-grain configurations. Available barbed or non-barbed.
Rage X-Treme
The X-Treme is Rage’s most aggressive broadhead to date, opening upon impact to create a wicked 2.3-inch cutting diameter. The blades are swept back at a steep angle to maintain more energy in flight for deeper penetration. The X-Treme incorporates Rage’s patented Shock Collar, which holds blades in place until impact. For use with bow draw weights exceeding 60 pounds. ($50/3-pack; ragebroadheads.com)
Ramcat
Ramcat mechanicals are full of high-tech features such as deep lobes in the cutting tip, which create an air foil that drafts wind over the blades and minimizes planing; a hydrofoil designed to push body mass outward as it goes deeper, removing friction from the arrow shaft and creating deeper penetration; and one-piece stainless steel body construction for durability. Blades are .032 inches thick. The 100-grain broadhead cuts with a 1 3/8-inch diameter.
Slick Trick ViperTrick
The Slick Trick ViperTrick is a deep-penetrating, cut-on-contact, two-edge tip pared with Lutz custom knife-grade Mercedes .035-inch-thick blades. The four-bladed broadhead uses a sharp-edged skeletal design to produce additional cutting surfaces for better bleeding. The cutting diameter is 1.94 inches.
Trophy Taker Ulmer Edge
The Trophy Taker Ulmer Edge is a low-flight-profile mechanical with rear deploying blades. The design engages both blades simultaneously, yet allows the blades to pivot around heavy bone for continued penetration. A stainless steel tip helps upon impact, as does the 1.5-inch cutting diameter. This broadhead can be locked in practice mode for use with standard broadhead targets.
Vantage Point Archery Penetrator
The Vantage Point Penetrator is a two-blade broadhead made from a CNC-machined one-piece solid billet of high carbon tool steel. They are then heat-treated and hardened to an incredibly strong 52 Rockwell before being coated to resist rust and aid penetration. The blades are double bevel sharpened and feature a Tonto-style cut-on-contact point. Available in weights of 150, 150 vented, 175, 200, 250 and 300 grains.
Wasp Queen
Designed for the female bowhunter, the Wasp Queen is a 75-grain fixed broadhead designed to work best with low poundage bows (55-pound draw weight or lower). The pink Queen is equipped with three razor sharp .027 stainless steel blades for a 1-inch wound channel.
