Herbicide sprayers are extremely important in food plot preparation and maintenance. These include spot and boom sprayers. Spot sprayers utilize a hose and wand to spray areas such as fence lines to kill back brush in small specific areas. Boom sprayers are used to kill vegetation, such as fescue, when creating new food plots and also for overall weed control. Cabela's has a spot/boom sprayer featuring either a 7-foot coverage boom or a folding boom with 10 feet of coverage. The sprayer is available with either a 15- or a 25-gallon tank. Last year I purchased a boomless sprayer at our local co-op. For me this solved one of the main problems with using boom sprayers — catching the boom on trees and stumps while spraying, which is why I purchased a new sprayer. The new sprayer covered a 30-foot-wide swath in one pass. Similar boom sprayers are available from Northern Tool. Visit www.northerntool.com.
Moultrie has a new 25-gallon spot sprayer with a 10-foot boomless nozzle that is available from Bass Pro. It includes a 25-gallon polyethylene tank with easy-to-read graduation marks, a spray wand, a 10-foot boomless sprayer with shut-off gate, 12 feet of hose, a drain valve and a 12V SHURflo pump.
