Sixteen-year-old Curtis Geier of Hampton, Illinois, was able to get some video footage of this great buck on opening day of the 2006 archery season.

Curtis hunted the big buck all season long and finally got a shot at him during Illinois' second firearms season in early December. "I went and got in my stand right after school," Curtis says. "I had been there for less than 30 minutes when I heard a stick snap behind me.

I turned around and there he was walking away from me. The shot was kind of tricky but I knew what my gun was capable of since I had killed several deer with it before. I was using a CVA Optima. After the shot I couldn't find any blood and I thought I had somehow missed. I came back three hours later with my dad and we found him in a creek bed about a 100 yards away. My buck had 10 points and he scored 148 points!"
