Trophy Photos From Our Readers -- July 2007
Robert Dotzert, Illinois
On March 15, 2007, Robert Dotzert of Beardstown, Illinois, had just finished burning off a CRP field located about 80 yards from the Sangamon River on his farm. "I'd never really looked for sheds before but everyone told me how easy it was to find them in the burnt fields so I started looking.
At the end of the day I was on my Rhino getting ready to call it quits and head for the truck. As I glanced across the smoldering field I thought I caught a glimpse of an antler. I drove up to it and I couldn't believe what I had found a huge, 20-point rack still attached to the skull.
As I drove back to where my nephew was standing waiting for me it started sinking in just how big this rack really was. I called the local game warden, got a tag, and now the mounted rack is proudly hanging on my wall.
Its funny because I am more proud of this found rack than I am of my 170-inch shotgun kill. My buddy who mounted the rack scored it at 218 inches."
