Johnny Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, killed this awesome 15-pointer while hunting in west-central Illinois on Nov. 18, 2007, the last morning of the first firearms season.
Johnny was hunting a hardwood bottom where two creeks intersected when this brute appeared at about 7:45 a.m.
"The buck exited the creek bottom to check a winter wheat field for does," Johnny said.
"He came from directly behind my tree so I had to turn and shoot through a small opening. I was using a Thompson/Center .50 caliber muzzleloader. The shot was approximately 75 yards and he ran about 100 yards before expiring. He grossed 155 inches!"
