Ron Ellery, Ontario, Canada

Deer of the Day Ron Ellery of Tweed, Ontario, Canada, shot this 15-point monster while hunting with his good friends, members of the Genereaux family, in Prince Edward County, Ontario. It was opening morning of a one-week shotgun hunt in early December last year.

The deer came through a patch of hardwoods to a ridge where Ron had made several mock scrapes the week before. As the deer approached an opening Ron stopped the buck with a bleat.

Then he took the shot. The giant whitetail ran about 60 yards before going down. With a 20-inch spread and good mass the huge rack grossed about 170. “This shows that western Canada isn't the only place in Canada where big bucks live!” Ron said with a smile.
