On Dec. 10, 2003, Mark Hunter of Mico, Iowa was still hunting on land he owned during the Iowa shotgun season when he brought down this long-tined 9-pointer. Mark had seen the buck on numerous occasions in 2002, but the deer was only a young 8-pointer at that time.

Then, in 2003, he never saw the buck until late in the season and it had grown considerably. Mark was able to make a 60-yard shot on the brute in the fading afternoon light.

Despite having only nine points, Mark's buck nonetheless netted an impressive 171 1/8 typical B&C points.
