Trophy Photos From Our Readers -- August 2007
Katy Kramlich, Wisconsin
Katy Kramlich, 16, was bowhunting with her father and brother in Puchyan Marsh in Green Lake County, Wisconsin, on Oct. 29, 2006, when she arrowed this beautiful 10-pointer.
Earlier in the day, while Katy was out with her father and brother, Katy's father had spotted the buck with another buck and a doe in the marsh.
Around 2:30, the three hunters headed back into the marsh to three different areas. The rut was just starting to kick in and a lot of rutting activity was taking place.
As she sat in her tree stand, Katy saw the buck get up from its bed at about 4:15 and head toward her father's stand with the other buck and the doe following. But the three deer must have winded her father because they turned and headed in another direction. Katy could hear them in the marsh but she could not see them.
Then, the doe suddenly came out of the marsh and headed right for Katy's stand. She knew the big buck would probably follow and she prepared for a shot. Sure enough, the buck soon appeared.
Although nervous, Katy made a perfect 10-yard shot with her PSE Nova. The 147-inch trophy was her first buck ever! When her dad and brother saw the deer they were ecstatic. Earlier the buck had been caught on her brother's Cuddeback trail camera.
