Trophy Photos From Our Readers -- December 2007
Matt Carter, Missouri
Matt Carter of St. Louis, shot this buck on opening day of the 2007 Missouri rifle season while hunting in Callaway County near Williamsburg. It was Saturday, Nov. 10, and Matt shot the buck at about 3:30 p.m. as the big deer was cruising a creek bottom for does.
"I had no idea the buck was this big, I just knew he was a shooter," Matt said. "Needless to say, he had no ground shrinkage when I reached him. And even though I had several trail cameras out on this farm and had gotten lots of pictures of other bucks, no one had
ever scene this monster before."
Matt's main-frame 6x6 heavyweight sported 14 points in all and a 20 4/8-inch inside spread. The rack measured 6 inches of mass all the way out to the end of the beams. Matt's opening day trophy field dressed at 200 pounds and green-scored 170 7/8 inches.
