Trophy Photos From Our Readers -- December 2007
Jeff Kraml, Missouri
On opening day of the 2007 Missouri firearms season, Jeff Kraml was hunting about 35 miles north of St. Louis near Foley, Missouri. About 1/2 hour after sunrise, he saw a nice deer with a good set of antlers. Naturally thinking the deer was a buck, he decided to shoot it.
When he reached the fallen deer, he realized that he had just taken the best trophy whitetail of his career. However, the biggest surprise came when he started to field dress his trophy "buck."
Turns out, it was not a buck at all. Instead, it was an antlered doe! Jeff showed his unusual kill to local conservation officers who were equally surprised at the size of the doe's rack. Jeff's big doe sported a 9-point rack with a 16-inch inside spread.
