On the morning of Nov. 15, 2008 (opening day of the Indiana firearms season), 9-year-old Logan Tidwell was hunting with his dad, Tom, near Tangier, Indiana.
The father and son team had been sitting in their tree stand for about three hours. It was cold and drizzling rain and they were just about to walk out of the woods when this beautiful 11-pointer appeared at about 9:30 am. The buck came running down a hill and Logan was the first to see it so he motioned to his dad. Tom grabbed his grunt call and grunted one time.
The buck stopped dead in his tracks in a creek and Logan wasted little time in aiming and shooting the deer with his new Topper Junior Classic 20 gauge. After waiting about an hour in the warm truck, the two hunters went back to look for Logan's trophy. They found Logan's very buck in a ravine. The big deer weighed 195 pounds.
