Trophy Photos From Our Readers - December 2008
Scott Flynn, Missouri
On Nov. 15, 2008, Scott Flynn of Canton, Illinois, was hunting on his family's farm in northeastern Missouri on opening day of rifle season.
"I've only been hunting about four years and this is my first mature buck," Scott said. "I sat all morning in my favorite two-man ladder stand and did not see a thing. It started out to be the slowest opening day I'd ever seen. I decided to switch places in the afternoon, and it paid off.
"After sitting for three hours and watching several forkies and small does pass by me, this 16 pointer came up from behind me and jumped the barbed wire fence beside my stand. I never knew he was there until I heard the sound of the tall grass rustling. When I looked over, he was standing there less than 20 yards away!
I did not have the rack green scored because I was so excited that I took the buck right to the taxidermist. The taxidermist said the rack will probably score somewhere in the high 170s to low 180s gross. Not bad for my first mature buck!"
