Trophy Photos From Our Readers
Brian Osterday, Minnesota
Brian Osterday shot this great 11-pointer with his camera on state land near Dead Lake, Minnesota in October 2005. Then, three weeks later, he returned to the same area on Nov. 5, opening day of rifle season, hoping to see the buck again but knowing the odds were remote.
That morning he was very disappointed because the woods were full of hunters. Frustrated, he came out of the woods about mid-morning to take a break. Suddenly he heard rifle fire. Moments later a large buck appeared. It was running full-out through a nearby swamp. Brian instinctively grabbed his scoped Marlin .30-30 and drew a bead on the running target.
When he squeezed the trigger the big buck dropped in his tracks. Everything happened so fast that Brian did not know the deer he had just shot was the same big 11-pointer he had photographed three weeks earlier until he reached the side of the fallen trophy. What are the odds?
