Chris Spencer, Texas
"Despite the fact that I was told it was a big 'no-no,' I changed bows during the middle of the 2005 season," says avid bowhunter Chris Spencer. "I had spent some time videotaping during the early part of the 2005 season, and I actually taped the deer I ended up shooting later on with my new Hoyt Ultramag.
On the morning of my hunt, I woke up to a chilly 31 degrees, and that's cold for the Hill Country of Texas. I had deer all around me and I even saw a larger 8-pointer but it was not light enough to shoot. After daylight arrived, I was able to get a shot at this 10-pointer as he came in chasing a doe.
Even though I've been bowhunting for three years now, it still amazes me how nerve-wracking but exhilerating it is to get an animal within bow range and how difficult it is to pull off the shot. I've experienced so many good things bowhunting that I never would have experienced while rifle hunting. I think I'm hooked!"
