It was the first day of Ohio's youth deer season last year and 14-year-old Taylor Farrar was hunting with her dad. They had already done a lot of scouting on a friend's property and found some good sign. "After we walked to our stand in the freezing Ohio coldness, we started waiting," Taylor said. "First came 15 turkey hens but they ran off. Then I got excited because a buck came along! However, he was only a 4-pointer and my dad said, 'Wait.'
"As we were watching this buck, he got nervous and mysteriously ran off as though something had frightened him. Then a huge buck with a huge rack came charging in. As soon as he got where I could shoot I aimed and fired. He bucked like a bronco and ran off. After over an hour of trying to follow a very confusing blood trail, my father called in his friend Allen McKinley on to help.
"While we were looking I heard my dad yell. Allen came by to get me on his quad and said, 'Your dad found your buck!' My heart was pounding when he said those 5 words. Turns out I made a great shot! My monster whitetail was a huge 8-point with a 25-inch spread. He weighed over 200 pounds. The Farrar buck is in fact a dream buck!
