Colin Stenberg, Wisconsin
On Nov. 3, 2007. Colin Stenberg arrowed this Wisconsin brute while bowhunting on public land in Trempealeau County. Around 10 a.m., Colin was thinking about leaving his stand when he heard leaves crunching.
He turned and saw the biggest buck he'd ever seen in the woods, passing just out of bow range. Undaunted, he grabbed his grunt tube and gave a couple of quick grunts.
The buck immediately changed direction and made a B-line for Colin's stand. Colin let the buck pass and shot him at 20 yards as he was quartering away. The Wisconsin brute scored 156 inches.
At noon, Colin's brother Scott called him to see how he was doing. "I just shot the biggest buck I've ever seen!" Colin said. When Scott asked Colin how many points the buck had, Colin couldn't answer. "I think he was still shaking!" Scott said.
