Early on the morning of Nov. 16, 2007, David Chapman of Atwood, Illinois, was perched in his tree stand on his grandpa’s small tract in Piatt County.
It was opening morning of firearms season and this rutting giant appeared near David’s tree. Using an Ithaca XL900 12-gauge, David shot once and missed and then anchored this 16-point brute for good. The big buck sported a 10 3/4-inch drop tine!
