Hunting during the first Iowa firearm season, Timm Venne was able to harvest this magnificent 11-point trophy that green scored 203 0/8 gross typical.
Timm and his hunting party were conducting three different drives in the afternoon they were hunting and the Iowan was set up in an oak tree where he could see what was coming his way.
As the day continued on, he noticed a group of does starting towards him, but they weren't in a hurry. With the does was a nice nine-point buck that Venne estimated to be in 150-160 range and Timm was close to pulling the trigger on that buck when he decided to hold off a bit longer as none of the deer seemed spooked.
As he waited, he spotted more does coming out, and then the buck of a lifetime started trotting down the trail after the does.

" I knew right away that he was a shooter. He actually had to turn his head side to side to clear some thick cover as he headed my way. I had never witnessed that before," shares Venne.
The buck continued toward Timm and the oak tree until he was a scant 30 yards away, standing broadside.
"I already had my gun up from the previous encounter and was unable to move at all. I settled my crosshairs just behind his front shoulder and squeezed the trigger. I knew instantly it was a good shot as he kicked his back legs and bolted," said Venne

The buck ran 75 yards and went down hard, leaving the Iowan elated.
"Truly a buck of a lifetime."
