Mike Drayer, Ohio

Akron's Mike Drayer knew there was a big buck on the small farm he was hunting in northeast Ohio, and on the third day of the 1993 gun season, the hunter decided to try still-hunting him. Around noon, as Mike was slipping through a bedding area, he spotted the buck lying under a tree 90 yards away. Taking a steady rest on a tree, Mike squeezed off a round from his .45-caliber muzzleloader and dropped the 125 2/8-inch 8-pointer on the spot.
