Scott Walck, Maine

In 29 years of hunting whitetails in northern Maine's Aroostook County, Scott "Dog" Walck had shot a number of deer. However, when the resident of Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, bagged this massive 18-pointer at a hot scrape on Nov. 19, 2002, he knew he'd outdone himself. Many do-it-yourself hunters from throughout the Northeast travel to Maine's big woods in search of trophies, but it takes time, effort , skill and good fortune to score consistently on deer of this caliber.
