Joe Davis, Tennessee

After months of watching this buck, Joe Davis finally got to hunt him on opening morning of the 1998 muzzleloader season in Hancock County, Tennessee. Before dawn Joe climbed a steep ridge to his chosen spot, then began clearing out a spot to sit beneath a tree. By now it was shooting light, and suddenly the hunter heard a noise behind him. Turning, he saw the buck standing there! Joe shot, and the trophy ran only a short distance before dropping. The 18-inch 8-pointer, which dressed out at 110 pounds, is an especially good buck for that area.
