Everything came together for Ohio deer hunter Dan Aquino last season when he completed his two-year quest for a 210-inch non-typical buck of a lifetime.
Aquino's quest for the monster 20-point buck, however, began two years ago when he heard rumors of the buck's existence, potentially roaming around in his hunting area.
The rumors became reality at the end of October 2014 while Aquino was out with his wife to watch for activity after a particularly bad storm that had him opting not to hunt that morning. Deer were everywhere, but Aquino was watching a nice 8-pointer specifically when a massive 20-pointer with a drop tine entered the area through a funnel, chasing a doe.
Disappointed that he didn't go hunting that day, Aquino watched the brute leave through the funnel that went just by his stand. He grabbed his trail camera for more clues on the monster.
After scrambling through about 100 photos, Aquino found one of the massive buck entering and checking his mock scrape around 11 p.m. the night before. From then on he passed on quality bucks, waiting for his opportunity at the buck of a lifetime.
Days went by before he finally saw the big buck again. Finally, on November 11, Aquino was perched in his stand during the afternoon when the buck he had been waiting for came in to check the scrapes.
Aquino waited for the buck to get to 15 yards before slowly drawing his Elite z28 and releasing the Victory Archery Vforce V3 arrow tipped with a Grim Reaper Whitetail Specail 2-inch broadhead through the buck that came to be known as "Wicked." His aim was dead-on as the buck expired just 30 yards away.
