Deer of the Day: Garry Neal's 192-Inch Kentucky Brute

Location: Wayne County, Kentucky

Method: .30-06

Score: 192 3/8 Green

Despite rumors of this buck's demise before the season, Garry Neal proudly tagged this impressive 192 3/8-inch buck this season.

Having hunted this buck hard for the past two seasons, Neal knew a thing or two about its tendencies and habits but was unable to get a clear shot at it in daylight. Three weeks before bow season opened, reports that the buck had been hit by a car made their way to Neal. Feeling sick at hearing the news, the only thing Neal could do was wait for the season.

He didn't wait long, though. He was filled with renewed hope when he pulled the card from his trail camera and saw the buck alive and well; it had actually grown a considerable amount from the previous season.

Opening day of rifle season brought the buck near Neal's stand as it was chasing a doe. The buck stopped just long enough for the opportunity Neal needed before pulling the trigger on his .30-06.

As fast as the action happened it was over. Neal watched the buck run about 30 yards before expiring. With 17 scorable points and three droptines, this was definitely the buck of a lifetime for a hardworking hunter.
