At 4:00 p.m. on October 29th, I climbed in my stand that's located in Northern Iowa, along with my wife. We were overlooking a slough of grass surrounded by timber, that leads to a picked cornfield.
A group of three does showed up in the grass behind us, eventually working past us. At 5:45 p.m. I looked up and saw this buck standing 50 yards away headed in my direction across the grass.
He grunted a few times and headed off to where the does had just crossed through. On his way, he stepped into my shooting lane at 25 yards. I stopped him, drew my Hoyt back, let a Gold Tip arrow fly, and SMACK€¦my Rocket Steelhead broadhead found its mark. The shot was perfect, right behind the shoulder! He ran 40-50 yards then crashed. Great hunt as I was able to share it with my wife and the recovery of the buck with my entire family!
The ten-point buck green scored 170 3/8!
