By Derek Waggener
My name is Derek Waggener and I hunt in Brown County Illinois. I hadn't seen anything all day in the stand until about the last hour of sunlight. During this time I saw 12 deer.
This buck was the last one I saw. I was looking at a smaller buck to my left and caught something out of the corner of my eye to my right. I turned and he was ten yards from my stand.
I turned, drew back my Hoyt V-tec, and let loose a Beman ICS arrow topped with a Muzzy MX-4. I hit him good and he ran about 80 yards and died in a creek bank.
I waited about a half hour to track him with my brother and my dad and we found him. He's easily the biggest deer I've shot, and a great memory to have with my dad and brother.

He was a mainframe 10-point with three kickers off his left brow tine and scored right around 150 inches, weighing 275 on the hoof.
