Deer of the Day - Nebraska Cattle Buck, Michael Spikes

Deer of the Day - Nebraska Cattle Buck, Michael Spikes

Michael Spikes was sure that the evening sit of his second day of hunting was going to end with him holding a tag, hopeful that another day would produce better results.

While heading over to a ridge that overlooked a draw full of cedars, Mike noticed that the spot that he was supposed to hunt had been taken over by 75 cows that weren't in any kind of mood to leave.

Mike did the best he could and headed into the timber to find a place to sit to see if anything would walk by.

After a few close encounters with some does and a yearling, Mike spotted this big boy strolling through from 15 yards away! As he grabbed his 7mm Ultra Mag, the buck took off running but made the fatal mistake of stopping at 50 yards to look back. Mike dropped him where he stood, claiming a true Nebraska trophy!

Congrats Mike!
