Gale Vetter, Iowa

This super-wide Iowa buck was seen in 1993, but it took another year for somebody to get him. The fortunate hunter turned out to be Hartley's Gale Vetter, who downed the deer after sneaking up on him during the December shotgun season. The 27-inch basic 8-pointer with a 7-inch drop tine was downed within a quarter-mile of where he'd been spotted the year before.
