Scent Control: Active vs. Passive Tactics

Scent control. It is arguably one of the most critical aspects of any hunt.

North American Whitetail’s Pat Hogan and Stan Potts offer some top-notch advice and insight on the subject of scent control in this From The Stand segment.

They begin by identifying two types of scent control: Active and passive.

Passive scent control tactics involve the use of cover scents and things to mask your scent or to confuse a deer. Hunter’s Specialties Scent-A-Way spray, cover scents, and urine-based scents come into play.

Active scent control deals with steps to eliminate and prevent human scent. The Ozonics system being an integral part of an active scent control strategy and with the advances in Ozonics technology, the system is now versatile enough to be used in multiple applications and situations.

Your scent control system — both active and passive — can only be as good as the effort you put into it. Do it right and you will see results.
