Bill Winke has been recognized for years as a master bowhunter when it comes to Midwestern whitetails. His most recent buck is just another reason why. Winke first noticed the buck in 2008 and named him "the double G4 buck" because of the twin G4's on both sides of his rack. Winke decided the buck was worthy of hunting in 2009 as a four-year-old. Fortunately for Winke, its rack continued to grow until the evening of November 3, 2012, when he spotted the buck again.

The double G4 had been very elusive over the years, and as a four-and-a-half-year-old, Winke saw him just three times. As it aged, however, the buck changed his patterns and was never seen in the daylight as a five-year-old. It then became quite visible late in the season when he was six years old. Winke didn't know what this year would bring, but was very hopeful.

On the evening of November 3, the monster buck entered the field headed toward a food plot Winke built. Winke grunted multiple times before the buck finally headed his way. At last the double G4 presented Winke with a long-awaited shot, which he capitalized on. Winke has over 12 hours of video footage of this buck on his Midwest Whitetail site and will showcase his hunt for the double G4 there.
