Colin Gerst, Iowa
September 22, 2010
Iowa's split shotgun seasons both occur after the rut, so they usually feature little natural movement of mature bucks. As a result, deer drives are one of the most commonly used hunting tactics. While participating in a drive on Dec. 7, 1997, Colin Gerst of Burlington made a 100-yard shot to drop this great 12-pointer in his tracks. Measured unofficially three weeks later, the rack had a gross B&C score of 193 5/8 and a net of 182 5/8.
