On Sept. 27, 2022, Jordan Parker’s cell camera alerted him that a huge whitetail was on land he hunts in Bossier Parish. That area of Louisiana produces good deer, but this one was exceptional, far bigger than anything he had ever seen there. And Jordan was determined to tag it from the get-go! “I started putting out corn and rice bran right away, hoping to keep the buck around,” he explains.
The giant deer did his part and kept hitting the new food source. But his visits were limited to just before dawn and after dark.
“I knew he got big by being smart,” Jordan says. “But he wasn’t going anywhere.”
And when the rut started later in the year, the big buck began showing up in full daylight.

Jordan likes to duck hunt, too. So, he was splitting his days up between the two passions. He would hit the water and wait for cell camera updates on the buck. On Nov. 11, he got another notification: a different mature buck was on a hot doe.
“The rut was on, and I knew that the big deer would be moving around a lot sooner,” Jordan adds. “I decided it was time to try for him the next afternoon.”
After his morning duck hunt, Jordan slipped into a ground blind carrying his 6.5 Creedmoor. It was 2:30 p.m., and he was ready. About two hours later, the big buck came out following a doe.

Jordan made the 95-yard shot, and the slammer whitetail ran a few steps and fell over. “I was calling my dad to tell him what happened, and another buck came out and began hooking the bigger deer,” Jordan relays. “He thought he was bad!”
The mainframe 10-point features long brows and great G2s and G3s. It scores 186 4/8 and took first place in the Men’s Firearm division of the Simmons Big Buck contest for the 2022-23 season!
